HOLIDAY SKINCARE - ONLY THE ESSENTIALS

How is the first week of October almost over? Time just flies by! Honestly, if you’re under 18 and you’re in a rush to grow up, don’t be! It feels like a year goes by just by blinking haha. It’ll be my birthday at the end of the month, and as a treat to myself, me and Ricardo are going away for a week to Punta Cana. I am so excited! It’ll be my first time going out of Europe and I can’t bloody wait. Like I mentioned in my previous post, I also went to Chania and Portugal last month, and these are the skincare bits that I took away with me. I’m pretty big on skincare, however, I didn’t travel with a hold bag, so I had to keep things simple so I could get through security. These products are all you need to ensure you take care of your skin while you’re away, without having to take the whole house with you.

Whether you have dry, normal or oily skin, you will always need a good cleanser. I like using balm cleansers as they’re pretty easy to travel with, and they remove makeup really well. I bought a travel size of the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, and it houses enough product for about two weeks. Because I didn’t have a bag in the hold, I had to keep my liquids to a minimum, so I skipped the serum, and took the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate instead. It’s great to use on its own as a night treatment, or you can even layer it with your moisturiser.

One thing I hardly ever skip is eye cream, this one is the All About Eyes by Clinique. Not my favourite to be honest. I tried the Rich version before and much prefer that one. This one feels like it would be better suited for people with normal or oily skin. For face cream I’m using the Origins Ginzing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream and I’m loving it. I was already a big fan of the original formula, but this one packs that extra thickness that I love. And last but not least, lip balm! Lip balm is one of those things I can't live without. I have one in every handbag, and in every room in the house haha. The one I took away with me is the Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm. It's quite a hard formula, but it melts as you swirl your finger in the tin.

So there it is, all you need to take away with you on your holidays. A good cleanser, an oil that can double up as a layering skincare product or as an overnight treatment, an eye cream, a face cream and a good lip balm. And of course it goes without saying, only take products you’ve already used before. I once made the mistake of trying a new cleanser while I was away and ended up with loads of tiny spots all over my face.

Hope this was helpful if you’re going away soon! Enjoy your weekend!
Lots of love, SFS.

SHIT HAPPENS

Happy October loves! Wow, can’t believe how fast last month went. I am so pleased we’re now in Autumn though. It’s by far my favourite season of the year. How have you all been? I’ve been all over the place! Last month I went away to Chania with two friends of mine for a few days, and then I went to Portugal for a week. It was a much needed holiday. I’ve been feeling so tired recently, with so much lack of energy, but I finally found out why. I’m anaemic. I recently went to the doctors about my irregular heartbeat (basically my heart always skips a beat), and they suggested I do some blood tests, and turns out I’m anaemic. I’ve been back and forth from the doctors this whole month pretty much, and October seems to be going in the same direction.

Anyway, enough of medical stuff, on to more bad news, and the most devastating news of them all for me, our landlord doesn’t allow us to have a dog! I am absolutely heartbroken! The first question we asked when we viewed this place was if they allowed dogs, and we were told that 'it shouldn’t be an issue'. But turns out it is an issue, even though we’ve offered to pay for any damage the dog causes. I am so gutted! I was already looking for dog toys, beds, treats etc... I must admit that I did shed a tear or two. But hey ho, I’m planning on doing my driving license soon, so fingers crossed I pass and then we can move to a bigger house where dogs are allowed!

Right, now I’m off to work. I just thought I’d come on here and give you a little update on where I’m at right now and what’s been going on in my life. The whole anaemia thing really caught me by surprise, but now I know why I’ve been feeling so deflated and with so much lack of energy. I’m waiting for some blood test results, and hopefully from there I can start some sort of treatment. So yeah, sorry I’ve been away for so long. Hope you’re all having a great start to the month! <3

Lots of hugs, SFS.
